About Us

We opened The South Downs Social in 2021, but our online business The Handmade Cyclist was founded in 2011, selling unique cycling art, ceramics, apparel and gifts.

Founder Neil Wyatt – a lifelong cyclist – designs all our products from our upstairs space, Handmade Studio. The Social is our idea of what a great, community focussed cafe should look like: a home for the area’s cyclists, an event space, a boutique, a place to watch bike racing, fiercely independent – and home to the best coffee, cake and food in town.
